Internet+ Creation Town in Tangjiawan and Pingsha Film & Television Cultural Small Town have been chosen as models for 25 similar developments to be formed over the next six years throughout Zhuhai.

The two models have received provincial-level status related to their industrial focuses and distinguishing architectural features. Unlike administrative towns and industrial parks, Characteristic Small Towns are innovative and entrepreneurial.

Internet + Creation Town in Xiangzhou District has grown into one of three engines driving Zhuhai's economic development. The 139-sq-km (54-sq-mile) site covers Tangjia and Jinding towns along with Qi'ao Island. It comprises Qianhuan Headquarters, Technology Innovation Coast, and Jinding Technological Industrial areas.

On the other hand, Pingsha Film & Television Cultural Small Town in Jinwan District integrates film culture and history. It provides hands-on acting experience, catering, and entertainment. Also in store are sightseeing, leisure, holidaymaking, fitness, health preservation, reproduced movie scene, star restaurant, film school, and star studio experiences. The project will be completed by 2020 with a 3,000-sq-m (.74-acre) sub-studio -- the largest in Asia.

Pingsha Film & Television Cultural Small Town

The Housing & Urban-Rural Planning & Construction Bureau has published a comprehensive study and planning for another 25 such towns.

Among them, Fishpond & Sugar Small Town Cultural & Creative Park is a highlight. Transformed from the venerable Hongqi Sugar Refinery and environs, the town integrates modern culture, tourism, leisure, and commerce. Containing a museum and zones for cultural-creative activity and candy-tasting, the park exemplifies the history of local sugar refining and the world's candy and sugar culture. Also on site are leisure and creative office areas, maker spaces dedicated to college students, featured catering, and a sugar-themed hotel.

Each town will occupy 3 sq km (741 acres) of national land, including about 1 sq km (247 acres) for structures. Specific industry segments will be prioritized and themed individually. Envisioned are clusters of characteristic industries, each with a distinctive cultural atmosphere, charming surroundings, and characteristic architecture.
