Huadu district strives to develop smart shared transport

Huadu district, Guangzhou issued the 2025 Huadu Urban Development Plan on Smart Shared Mobility at the first International Smart Shared Mobility Congress on Nov 20.

According to the plan, Huadu district will build a cooperatively owned smart car road with a total length of 19.5 kilometers in 2019 to connect Huadu Auto City, Guangzhou North Railway Station and Baiyun Airport. In 2020, an intelligent bus lane connecting the core area and Baiyun airport will be in operation and multiple modes of transportation, including smart buses, smart cars, regular buses, and shared cars, will be developed in the district to provide efficient services.

Huadu will initially build a high density electric shared car network in 2020, launching 3,000 shared electric cars and more than 70 charging stations. By 2025, intelligent shared cars will become the main transportation in Huadu district, and numbers are expected to reach 6,000. Rental services will also become available in key areas of the district in the next few years.

Luo Ganzheng, deputy head of Huadu district, said that the district will focus on the creation of intelligent travel R&D, technology transformation, industry service and talent training, to promote the research, development and achievements of new energy technologies.

The Huadu automobile industry has a history of more than 10 years. It is home to more than 1,000 auto parts and related enterprises in the local and surrounding areas and has formed a large-scale industrial cluster, complete industrial structure and rapid industrial growth. Currently, Huadu is trying to lay out driverless, intelligent travel and other fields to go with the tide of automobile intelligence and network connection.

Huadu district has set up two test sections for unmanned vehicles and will start testing in closed areas as soon as possible.
