The opening of the two routes will bring the total number of international routes from Shenzhen to 17.

Since the end of 2013 after the Terminal 3 of the Shenzhen airport was put into operation, China Southern Airlines has sped up internationalization by opening a dozen air routes from Shenzhen to international cities including Sydney, Melbourne and Moscow.

“We will intensify flights on the route between Shenzhen and Dubai to promote people-to-people exchanges and cargo business after the new route is launched,” said Liu Guojun, general manager with the Shenzhen branch of China Southern Airlines, at the launch ceremony.

In the new season and through the whole of 2019, the Shenzhen company will introduce more wide-body planes and open more routes to Europe and the U.S., according to Liu.

Domestically, the Shenzhen company will open four routes, including a route to Yan’an in Shanxi Province on Oct. 28 and a route to Linzhi, Tibet, on Oct. 30, bringing the number of domestic air routes to 60.

The route to Linzhi is the only direct flight from Shenzhen to the Tibetan city.

It will also increase the number of flights on routes to Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Chongqing, Harbin, Changchun, Hangzhou, Xi’an and Wuhan in the new schedule season.

The Shenzhen company has a fleet of 52 aircraft including eight A330 wide-body planes.
