124th Canton Fair opens today, 60% of overseas exhibitors from Belt & Road countries

On October 15th, the 124th Canton Fair, China's largest trade fair kicked off in Guangzhou, this year attracting more than 25,000 exhibitors with over 60,000 booths.

The biannual fair is held to be a barometer of China's foreign trade performance. Its first phase which runs from October 15th to October 19th, features products including home appliances, electronics and hardware, with major brands such as Haier and Midea showcasing their latest models.

Xu Bing, the fair's spokesperson, said the number of participants (191,950) this session is comparable to the 122nd session last year.

The fair also features an exhibition area for imports in the first and third phases, with 636 companies from 34 countries and regions to exhibit at around 1,000 booths, a record number for the event.

Those exhibitors include 100 business who have been a part of the Canton Fair for 10 sessions in a row and over 120 who will be making their debut this year.

The International Pavilion continues to host exhibitions of ‘Babies & Kids' products and ‘Daily-use Cleansing’ products. Exhibitors from the United States, France, Australia, South Korea and other countries will present their high-end offerings to meet the rapidly-rising level of demand from increasingly affluent Chinese consumers.

60% of exhibitors who have signed on to the International Pavilion are from countries and regions within China's Belt and Road Initiative. Exhibitors from world class industrial hubs, such as kitchen and bath quality products from Italy, smart household appliances from South Korea, and high-end kitchen appliances from Turkey, will all be highlights of the session. 

Seven countries including South Korea, Malaysia, Egypt, Turkey, Thailand, Pakistan, and India are participating in the fair with national pavilions.

In addition, a total of 20 forums on various themes will be held during the fair, centering on international trade, trade risk prevention and control, intellectual property rights and so on.
