Recently, the transportation development of Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong province has become a focus as the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong express rail link launched.
In recent years, building world-class railway terminal has become the focus of Guangzhou city construction. At present, there are 5 railway stations in operation in Guangzhou, including Guangzhou Railway Station, Guangzhou East Railway Station, Guangzhou South Railway Station, Guangzhou North Railway Station and Guangzhou West Railway Station. According to the “Overall planning for Guangzhou (2017-2035), in the future, 10 railway stations will cover 7 districts across the city.
According to the layout revealed in recent years, there will be at least one high-speed railway station or railway station in each district of Guangzhou (except Liwan, Haizhu, Conghua and Huangpu). Besides, Guangzhou Railway Station and Guangzhou East Railway Station will be integrated and upgraded to Guangzhou Central Railway Station, which mainly serves the central urban area of Guangzhou. Guangzhou Central Railway Station will become the largest rail transit terminal in China.
Guangzhou South Railway Station has been in service for 9 years since 2010. According to China Railway Guangzhou Group Co., Ltd., the maximum daily passenger flow of South Railway Station during the summer vacation this year has reached 500,000, making it the busiest station in Guangzhou.
As one stations of Guanzhou-Shengzhen high-speed railway, Qingsheng Station in Nansha was put into operation since 2011.With the opening of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong express rail link on September 23 this year, the passenger flow of Qingsheng Station has increased gradually. Earlier this year, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology （HKUST）confirmed that it planned to set up a new campus next to Qingsheng Station of Nansha District. It is expected that the facilities of Qingsheng Station will be improved in the future.
Besides, Guangzhou Railway Station, Guangzhou East Railway Station and Tangxi Station are on the preliminary stage of reconstruction. The official date of reconstruction in Guangzhou Railway Station has not been released, and the reconstruction of Guangzhou East Railway Station will not start until 2019. Tangxi Railway Station will be improved soon and Guangzhou North Railway Station has been remolding for 2 years, which is expected to be completed by the end of next year. Xintang Railway Station is under construction, it will be put into operation next year. The construction of Baiyun Airport Railway Station, Nansha Railway Station and Zengcheng Railway Station is still under planning.
