Nanshan No. 1 among China’s top 100 districts

Shenzhen's Nanshan and Futian districts came in first and third, respectively, on the list of China’s top 100 districts in 2018, according to a white paper released by consultancy CCID Consulting, ce.cn reported.

The white paper, oriented to high-quality development, has adopted 17 indicators such as economic strength, growth potential, green development and people’s livelihood to comprehensively evaluate the development of each urban district, and selected the country’s top 100 districts in 2018 based on statistical data.

The results showed that Nanshan and Futian districts are among the top three, while Guangzhou’s Tianhe District took the second place.

With less than 1 percent of the country’s land area and 9 percent of the national population, the top 100 districts have created nearly a quarter of the country’s GDP, becoming an important engine for China’s economic development, said the report.

In terms of distribution, 67 districts are located in the eastern region, 14 in the central region, 15 in the western region and four in the northeastern region. In particular, Guangdong, Jiangsu and Shandong provinces have 22, 20 and 12 districts on the list respectively, occupying more than half of the slots.

The total proportion of secondary and tertiary industries in the top 100 districts is over 99 percent. Propelled by strong momentum, the tertiary industry in these districts has reached 65.2 percent, which is 13 percentage points higher than the national average.

The industries in the top 100 districts are mainly the high-tech industry and high-end service industry.
