Guangdong traffic police will enforce traffic management from August to October, as this period is reknowned as being the peak period for vehicle accidents, according to a press conference held by Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department on August 9th.
“In light of statistics, the third quarter (from July to September) is a peak period for car accidents in Guangdong,” said Chen Binglong, Political Commissar of the Traffic Management Bureau of Guangdong’s Provincial Public Security Department. “Weather, driving without a license, road rage and drunk driving are the main reasons for car accidents.”
According to Chen, relying on “smart policing”, Guangdong police will launch serval operations to combat drunk driving, driving while tired, overloaded vehicles, illegal coach operations and more.
As of May this year, the number of auto accidents has fallen by 1.36% and the associated death toll by 4.83% year-on-year, according to statistics provided by the Guangdong traffic police.
Furthermore, due to the frequent typhoons and rainy weather the province experiences during the third quarter, some safety advice was Issued by the traffic police at the press conference:
1.Maintain regular checks on your vehicle and stay focused while driving.
2.Under no circumstances drive your vehicle after drinking alcohol or while on medication.
2. Slow down and maintain a safe distance from other cars during severe weather such as a typhoon or heavy rain.
3. Avoid parking your car in direct sun if possible, as prolonged exposure to extreme heat can pose a risk of fire.
