Chimelong's 5th China International Circus Festival will branch out to include a Zhuhai citywide tour and Hong Kong mobile performance this autumn.
The announcement was made at the 100-day countdown ceremony on Aug 8. The grand circus gala, an attraction since 2013 will be held from Nov 16 to 23. Over the years it has brought in 43 premiere acrobats from around the world to please more than 300,000 people in 109 performances.
This year's event will be held at Chimelong Hengqin International Circus City. Twenty-five shows are on the roster so far, including clowns and aerial and stage acrobatics. Performers will hail from 25 countries and regions such as Ethiopia, Belgium, Russia, Ukraine, and Cuba.
100-day countdown ceremony
A double-decker bus carrying circus artists will tour Zhuhai from Nov 24 to Dec 1, giving shows for free. The innovation is the first of its kind in the country.
Meanwhile, some outstanding performances will be invited to wow Hong Kong audiences. Macao was the beneficiary last year.
The event is hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Guangdong People's Government, and organized by the Municipal People's Government and Guangdong Chimelong Group.
