Cai Chaolin, standing member of CPC Guangzhou Committee and Party Chief of Nansha, as well as about 200 officials of Nansha government and members of staff from the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-Sen University attended the ceremony.

The project is located at the Pearl Bay Development Area, a developing area planned as Nansha’s “Zhujiang New Town”, and it will be built into a 3A public hospital (the top level for public hospitals in China).

According to Nansha government, the hospital’s construction will be completed in 3 years. Once completed, it will offer high-quality medical treatment and healthcare services to residents in Nansha and cities such as Shenzhen, Zhuhai and Dongguan in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area since the transportation network is increasingly sophisticated.

The First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-Sen University was founded in 1910 and is known as an important base for research, medical service and education in South China. Its Nansha campus will be equipped with all the three functions and establish more than 20 key disciplines and clinical specialties. It will also set up a tumor treatment center and a precise medical center.

Thus far, Nansha has joined hands with a number of top-tier public hospitals in Guangdong, such as Guangzhou Women and Children Medical Center, and introduce their resources to boost its medical service. These public hospitals are clustering a batch of specialized hospitals and medical enterprises to promote the development of an integrated medical environment.
