Spending was up 28.2 percent to 578 million yuan ($90 million) as 726,200 tourists celebrated the three-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday in Zhuhai, an increase of 25.8 percent. There were 229,100 overnight guests, up 15.1 percent.
Most visited were Chimelong International Ocean Tourist Resort, Yeli Island, New Yuanming Palace, Haibin Beach, Xianglu Bay, Jingshan Park, and Ocean Spring Resort, according to the Zhuhai Culture, Sports & Tourism Bureau. More than 82 percent of the total trips to Zhuhai during the June 16-18 holiday break were made by motorists.

Chimelong Ocean Kingdom and Agricultural Paradise each offered discounts to college graduates. Other tourists were attracted to rural areas to pick fruit and admire blooming lotuses. World Cup fans at the Gree Dong’ao Hotel on the Wanshan Island were served delightful seafood and special cocktails while watching live streaming; they also participated in various football games.
Appreciation for intangible cultural heritages and traditional folk arts was evident throughout the National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone in Tangjiawan and on Golden Beach in Jinwan District.
