Guangdong police launches open platform to improve transparency of law enforcement

In an attempt to enhance the transparency of law enforcement, Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department launched an open platform for law enforcement information sharing on May 29th.
.

“The open platform empowers people with a ‘right to know’ and supervision rights,” said Li Qingxiong, Executive Director General of Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department. “People can find out more through visiting the website gdga.gov.cn or following Guangdong Legal Affairs (WeChat ID: gdgafz) on WeChat.”

According to Guangdong police, the open platform has 6 sections, and after an individual inputs their ID or case number, people involved in the case, such as the victim, suspect and suspect's family can read detailed information regarding the case-handling process and punishment to be imposed. For example, how many suspects have been arrested and where are they being detained? Is the case moving into the judicial stages or still under investigation?
