Hengqin New Area, Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba, and Alibaba payment affiliate Ant Financial Service Group agreed on May 17 to transform Hengqin into a Smart Island.
The parties will build infrastructure and platforms. These will be used to upgrade the digital and intelligence levels of urban governance, industrial recruitment, public administrative services, environment stewardship, cross-border e-commerce, and other spheres. In essence, they will help construct the City Brain for Hengqin New Area.

Furthermore, Da Heng Qin Technological Development and Alibaba Cloud will partner in terms of Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence, City Brain, urban City of Things, and IntelliSense System.
While the partnership will cultivate talents for local industries, it will also provide quality financial technology services to attract entrepreneurs. They seek to create a Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Innovative Center and national demo site for innovation and entrepreneurship.
