Tomorrow (May 18th) marks World Museum Day, a day for museum lovers! Every year this day, museums in Guangdong will hold a variety of cool events. What surprises are in store this year?
According to ycmb.com, 9 museums in Guangzhou will open between 18:30 - 20:30 tomorrow and special night events will be held. These museums are:
Guangzhou Museum

Museum of the Western Han Dynasty Mausoleum of the Nanyue King
This year marks the first time for Museum of the Western Han Dynasty Mausoleum of the Nanyue King to open at night in 30 years. It will launch a series of night events on the theme of “Exploring the Tomb in Darkness”, including VR games, quiz games, outdoor shadow plays and workshops to make lanterns.
Throughout the daytime, there is an amusing display of cultural relics morphed into wechat stickers and stage plays of “Night at the Museum” will be performed.

Shaoguan - Chinese Sexual Culture Museum
Opened in 2004, the museum is divided into six exhibition rooms on a total 16 different themes, including sexual elements in ancient Chinese characters, ancient sex education, religious and sexual culture, art and educational books and so on. With more than 2500 ancient exhibits related to sexual culture, the museum displays the whole gamut from elegant to vivid ancient sexual culture throughout China’s five-thousand-year history.

Dongguan - Agarwood Culture Museum
Eaglewood, also known as “Chen Xiang” in Chinese, is a dark resinous heartwood that forms in Aquilaria trees (large evergreens native to southeast Asia). It is valued in many cultures for its distinctive fragrance and thus is used for incense and perfumes.
The museum offers visitors top grade agarwood from all over Asia such as Malaysia, Vietnam and Indonesia. Besides exquisite agarwood, there are also vivid electronic presentations displaying the evolution of Chinese agarwood culture.

Foshan - Guangdong Shiwan Ceramics Museum
If you want to learn the culture behind ceramics and experience pottery painting, there’s no better place than Shiwan Ceramic Museum. The museum is divided into dynamic and static display sections. In the dynamic demonstration, you can view ancient ceramic making techniques and also enjoy the fun of making pottery yourselves! The static displays include numerous historical relics.
