The five winners are all now qualified to attend the Bocuse d'Or Finale held in Lyon, France during the Sirha trade show in January 2019.

Despite failing to hit the top five, the Chinese contestant Fu Zhuwei was awarded one of the two valuable "wild cards" at the four continental selections, enabling him to also enter the Bocuse d'Or Finale.

Bocuse d'Or, created by chef Paul Bocuse in January 1987, has become the world's most prestigious cooking contest. The biennial world chef championship is frequently referred to as the "Culinary Olympics".

This was the first time that Guangzhou, a city in South China famous for its food, has hosted the Asia-Pacific selection. Over the past few days, many world-famous chefs have gathered in Guangzhou and visited local grocery markets to get a taste of the local food culture.
