Check out Baiyun's new and glitzy shopping mall

The end of April witnessed the grand opening of Anhua Mall, the first themed shopping center — as well as a new landmark — in Baiyun district. The 9-story mall, one floor underground and 8 above ground, stands about 40 meters tall and covers an area of 300,000 square meters—about 714 NBA basketball courts! With 350 brands operating here, though, what exactly makes this complex different from others? Let's have a look!

1. The longest shopping mall in Guangzhou

With a roof designed as a yellow ship and an exterior decorated with blue and white glass curtains, the complex is difficult to ignore in its area. It stretches 330 meters, too long to fit in a camera lens (go challenge me).

Built in a once dilapidated area of Baiyun district, the mall officially opened on April 28 after three years' construction. Under the theme of a sailing ship, it adopts a brownish yellow hue and infuses elements like ebb tide, shallows and waves into its interior design.

Viewed from the ground, its spiraling floors look like circles of waves.

Even the floor guide is in the shape of a rudder.

The mirror in the restroom resembles a Russian doll, with a series of mirrors each smaller than the last, placed one inside the other.

2. A six-floor elevator

Visitors find it difficult to miss the long elevator that stretches 64 meters and strides 54 meters across floors L2 and L6 in the shopping mall. It offers great views from the top and helps customers to reach the sixth floor in 120 seconds.

3. Elevated glass corridor on the 8th floor

Striding the east and west of the shopping mall on the 8th floor, the elevated glass corridor, 28 meters long and 2 meters wide, is the first indoor corridor of its kind in Guangdong province.

Walking on the glass corridor and looking at things 36.5 meters below, one might fell like challenging themselves in one of those aloft outdoor glass pathways in scenic spots, instead of in a bustling shopping mall.

4. Marriage registry in the mall

Never was a marriage registration office found at a shopping mall. Yet the marriage registry of the Civil Affairs Bureau, Baiyun District, has made its way into the complex. In the middle of fitment and decoration, though, it boasts a romantic vibe with pink rooms and glass screens painted with flowers. It is also said that other marriage-related services, such as wedding photography and wedding planning, will be put in place to offer citizens a seamless process.

Whether it is wedding planning, home decoration, fine food, or children-themed recreation, Anhua Mall offers diverse shopping experiences to explore. And citizens living in the Baiyun district won't need to travel to other districts to shop at malls.

Also, Silent Cake, the bakery run by hearing impaired people, is also located here on the first floor of the complex.
