Small and medium companies set pace at Canton Fair

The second phase of the 123rd Canton Fair, featuring consumer goods, gifts, and home decorations, concluded in Guangzhou on April 27.

According to the Yangcheng Evening News, this year's second phase (April 23-27) saw a steady growth of transaction volume compared with the same phase last year, and the most remarkable increase was represented by some well-known enterprises that exhibited their innovative products.

In particular, the exhibition area for gardening tools & products and pet products saw a surge of purchasers. Several industrial leaders received many new clients from the West, especially Britain.

At the second phase, exhibitors from Guangzhou reaped a total transaction volume of 250 million US dollars. More than 60 percent of the exhibitors are small and medium sized companies. And 75.77 percent of the total transaction volume was created by Guangzhou's private companies.

According to several exhibitors, this year's Canton Fair saw an obvious increase of visitors and many more purchasing orders are expected to arrive right after the fair ends.

The third phase of the Canton Fair will open on May 1 and last until May 5.
