Guangzhou to host battery industry fair

The 2018 Asia (Guangzhou) Battery Sourcing Fair scheduled for August in the Guangdong provincial capital is expected to host a myriad of business opportunities for battery manufacturers and traders, organizers said.

More than 800 companies from more than 20 countries and regions in the battery industry have, so far, promised to participate in the event, with aims to further increase their presence in the vast mainland market.

Authorities said China has now become the largest battery market, and the mainland is keeping a strong momentum.

By 2020, the country's lithium battery market value will come to more than 450 billion yuan ($71.43 billion), and China will be able to account for 70 percent of market share, authorities said. Last year, China's lithium battery market represented 60 percent of international lithium battery market share.

Special seminars, exchanges and lectures will also be held during the event to help boost Sino-foreign cooperation in the battery industry, organizers said.

Wei Gaoqiang, a representative from the Dongguan Lithium Battery Industry Association, said the event will help promote exchanges between battery companies from home and abroad and expand their sales in the mainland market.

"The event offers a good platform and chance for both foreign and domestic battery companies," he said.

GBF Asia 2018 is guided by the National Energy Conservation Center and jointly organized by the China Energy Conservation Association, All-China Environment Federation, Guangdong Energy Conservation Association and Guangdong Grandeur International Exhibition Group.

Covering an exhibition floor space of more than 45,000 square meters, GBF Asia 2018, with a theme of "One Industry, One Future", will be held from Aug 16 to 18 in the exhibition halls of the China Import and Export Fair.
