Classic Chinese play ‘Thunderstorm’ to be staged in Shenzhen

Beijing People’s Art Theater will present drama master Cao Yu’s classic play “Thunderstorm” at Shenzhen Poly Theater.

Free talk by senior fashion curator in Shenzhen on March 23

Sonnet Stanfill, acting senior curator of the Department of Furniture, Textiles and Fashion at the Victoria & Albert Museum (V&A) in London, will give a free talk titled “Presenting Fashion Through Exhibitions” in Shekou. No sign-up is required.

Indian designers Sahil Bagga and Sarthak Sengupta will give a free workshop in Shekou this Saturday.

Bulgarian State Puppet Theater Varna will present children’s play “Folklore Fantasies” in Shenzhen this weekend.

Leiluo, which consists of Beijing music producer Wang Lei and Shanghai musician Yile, will present a night of crossover music.

At the Shenzhen show, Reflector will bring their love and perseverance in punk music, presenting a more shocking show.

Post Youth Festival to hit town during March 23-25

More than 20 Chinese and Japanese bands will go big at Playa Maya Water Park inside Happy Valley amusement park to bring rock, post-rock, heavy metal, electronic and pop music to the Post Youth Festival.

The Key Theater from Israel will present a nonverbal play “When All Was Green” on weekends this month.

Nigensha’s reproductions

Reproductions of magnificent ancient Chinese paintings and calligraphic works produced by Nigensha Publishing Company from Japan are on display. The exhibited reproduced paintings and works of calligraphy include many of the finest surviving works by masters, such as Wang Xizhi (303-361), Fan Kuan (950-1032) and Guo Xi (1000-1090).

U.S. singer Kevin Kennedy III will give a show March 27 at Brown Sugar Jar.

‘Mysterious Dunhuang’

“Mysterious Dunhuang,” an immersive and informative exhibition featuring ancient Dunhuang Mogao cave art in Northwest China’s Gansu Province, is being held at OCT Harbor. The Dunhuang Academy set up seven life-sized Mogao caves with mural reproductions all over the walls and ceilings.

New museum opens with Ying Tianqi’s exhibition in Shenzhen

“Go Into the Folk,” a solo exhibition of prints, paintings and installations created by renowned modern Chinese artist Ying Tianqi, is being held at the newly opened Zhi Art Museum in Shajing.

‘Situations’

Greek painter Apostolos Georgiou is exhibiting his paintings at Nanhai E-Cool. Curator Barry Schwabsky has titled the exhibition “Situations,” referring to how these figurative works present not stories, but something more like diagrams of relationships among people and things.
