Hengqin exchange unites intellectual property units

The Hengqin International Intellectual Property Exchange (HIPEX) National Platform Agency signed strategic agreements with domestic IP industry leaders on March 9 to create a trade environment designed to upgrade the overall IP industry.

HIPEX, also known as the Seven-Stringed Lute National Platform, teamed up with the National Base for Copyright Trade (Yuexiu) in Guangzhou, Sinoipro IP Management & Technology Transfer Co Ltd in Shanghai, Champion Commercial Service (GZ) Ltd in Guangzhou, gaohangip.com, 86sb.com, and maizhi.com. They will explore new avenues while focusing on online trading that integrates intellectual property finance and cross-border transactions pioneered by HIPEX.

The action was taken at the first General Assembly of the China International Property Exchange Alliance held in Zhuhai. The alliance was inaugurated during the Guangdong Intellectual Property Trade Expo 2017 in September last year. It is a non-profit cooperative organization open to IP-related organizations that operate on voluntarism, equality, mutual benefit, and cooperation. Its purpose is to integrate domestic and foreign IP resources through marketing, policy, mechanical improvements, and practicing models.

The general assembly was attended by 81 renowned IP trading companies and service organizations. Alliance charters, membership management methods, decisions on positioning sponsored units, and work plans for 2018 were established during the event.

Zhuhai has become a National Pilot City of National Intellectual Property and a Pilot City for IP pledge financing, as defined by the State Intellectual Property Office. As of 2017, there were more than 20,000 patent applications in Zhuhai, and the per capita ratio for invention patent applications ranked second in Guangdong for the seventh consecutive time.
