Nansha lures global architects to design its new hospital project

Recently, Guangzhou’s Nansha District starts a design competition and invites architects worldwide to design its new hospital project, the First Affiliated Hospital (Nansha Hospital), Sun Yat-sen University. The winner will gain the design contract with the project while the top 9 participants will also be awarded 500 thousand to 2 million yuan (about US$ 79 thousand- 316 thousand).

The hospital project is jointly developed by Guangzhou’s sub-center, Nansha, and the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University which is a 3A hospital (the top level in China), aiming to improve the district’s medical service, medical research and training abilities. Once completed, it will be a medical research center in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Project details:

Planned total investment: about 4.52 billion yuan

Construction size:

The hospital is preliminarily planned with a GFA of about 500,000 m2 (including FAR-counted floor area of 330,000 m2 and non-FAR-counted floor area of 170,000 m2), and 1500 beds.

Location:

The project is located in Hengli Island which is one of the key development areas of Nansha. It’s about 1 km from the interchange station of Metro Line 18 and Metro Line 15. Metro Line 18 will give direct connection with Zhujiang New Town, Guangzhou’s CBD.
