Sumlodol Hengqin Camping Park in Zhuhai has met Construction & Service Specifications of Leisure Camping Sites on Feb 2 and was named a National Standard Pilot & Test Base.
The first of its kind to win the title in Guangdong Province, the strict standards set for the Hengqin New Area park had been proposed in the design stage.
The National Technical Committee on Leisure of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC498) offers guidelines on acreage, ancillaries, facilities, and surrounding environment. It formulates national standards for the development and protection of traditional leisure projects, modern ideas and services, themed clubs, festivals, and consulting.

The family-oriented park is being developed by State-owned Da Hengqin Pan-Tourism Development Co Ltd at the base of Small Hengqin Mt. It combines camping, driving, and other recreational activities to create a multi-faceted experience.
There are 48 lots containing recreational vehicles, cabins, and other facilities. Eighteen RVs are equipped with furniture, electrical appliances, simple kitchens, and cribs. Some have overhead skylights.
The first 6 hectares (15 acres) of the park operate under the banner Enchanted Journey on Hengqin Island.

Catering to families, each living unit has an individual courtyard for barbeques with nearby pirate-themed rides suitable for all ages. Ten parking stalls are reserved for private motorhomes with easy access to water and electricity.
The combination of RV camping with other activities and services is just one highlight of Hengqin's leisure tourism. Its innovative appeal surpasses that of many other domestic tourism sites, according to a local official.
