The first session of 12th Guangdong CPPCC concludes on Jan 27

New leaders of the political advisory body were elected as the first session of the 12thGuangdong Provincial Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) ended on January 27th.

Li Xi, Party Chief of Guangdong, and Ma Xingrui, Governor of Guangdong attended the meeting.

Wang Rong was elected as Chairman of CPPCC Guangdong Committee while Lin Xiong, Liu Rizhi, Deng Haiguang, Yuan Baocheng, Huang Wu, Zhang Jiaji, Li Xin and Ma Guangyu were elected as Vice Chairmen. Wu Weipeng was elected as Secretary General.

The session also elected 138 Standing Members of the CPPCC Guangdong Committee. With the attendance of 772 Guangdong CPPCC members, the decision of this CPPCC was approved by voting.

Wang Rong said the Guangdong CPPCC meeting successfully gathered wisdoms from different sectors, brainstorming to push forward Guangdong’s reform and opening up.

“The new CPPCC Guangdong will follow the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress and the 12th Guangdong CPC Congress, and improve its work efficiency to better play its role as a patriotic united front organization and an organization for democratic consultation, deliberation and supervision,” he said.

Representatives from consulates in Guangzhou also attended the session.
