Doumen District in Zhuhai was named on Dec 17 as one of "China's Most Beautiful Rural Tourist Destinations" due to unique natural ecological landscapes, profound historical and cultural resources, and location advantage.
Although 20 other rural areas share the honor, Doumen is the only entry from Guangdong Province. The awards were presented at the 3rd China's Beautiful Countryside Construction Development Forum held in Beijing.

The forum, sponsored by China Internet Information Center, looked at regions with distinctive advantages following strict appraisal procedures. Under the categories of China's "beautiful countryside construction demonstration zone (city, county, town or village)," "most beautiful rural tourist destination," "ecological county with superb environment," and "livable model county," the shortlisted areas are expected to set an example for rural construction nationwide.
In recent years, Doumen has developed leisure agriculture and rural tourism. It integrates local resources and utilizes characteristic projects and events to upgrade rural tourism products, uplift competitiveness, and expand the brand effects. A diversified product system of Doumen rural tourism has taken shape, consisting of agriculture, festivities, cuisines, and culture.
