[SZ]Woman harassed by food deliveryman

A woman in a hotel was almost sexually assaulted by a food deliveryman, according to a report by the Southern Metropolis Daily yesterday.

The 25-year-old woman, surnamed Li, is a mother of two children and was staying in the hotel on Fenghuang Road in Luohu District after having a quarrel with her husband.

On Dec. 6, she ordered a meal at 8:45 p.m. on the app of the food delivery service platform https://www.ele.me.

The surveillance camera showed a deliveryman arrive at around 9:31 p.m. and knock on the door. When Li, who was in pajamas, opened the door to take the meal, the man suddenly forced open the door.

According to Huangbeiling police , quoting a statement from Li, Li was frightened by the way the man stared at her when she attempted to close the door.

Li threw the meal at the man and cried for help. However, the man held her arm, covered her mouth and pushed her onto the bed. As Li struggled with her last strength, the man suddenly stopped and begged for her forgiveness.

When Li heard someone knock on the door to check on the situation, she took the chance to rush out of the room and the man fled. The man later sent a desperate message to Li, saying he had acted impulsively after drinking some wine.

The 21-year-old man was arrested Dec. 8 and denied the harassment charge.

The food delivery platform admitted to having dispatched the order for Li’s meal and is investigating if the deliveryman was registered.

The platform is cooperating with police investigation.
