1st Panda cub born in France named Yuan Meng

Brigitte Macron, wife of French President Emmanuel Macron, visits Yuan Meng, the first-ever panda born in France, at a naming ceremony at the Beauval Zoo in Saint-Aignan in central France on Monday.

The 4-month-old panda was named Yuan Meng yesterday, which carries the beautiful meaning of “fulfilling the dream.”

The name was selected by Chinese first lady Peng Liyuan and the panda’s godmother, Brigitte. The panda baby, who will return home to China at the age of 3, can be seen by visitors to the zoo starting Jan. 13.
