Drones banned at Shenzhen's High-Tech Fair venue

Unlicensed drones will be banned from use inside the halls of the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center during the 19th China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF) between today and Tuesday.

Police will adopt the latest technologies, including facial recognition, ID verification, thermodynamic imaging and high-definition cameras, to ensure safety.

Nearly 1,000 police officers will be on duty to check licensed vehicles and personnel entering the main venue of the fair.

Although police won’t impose traffic controls for the fair, vehicles parked along Jintian Road, Yitian Road, Fuhua No. 1 Road, Fuhua No. 3 Road, Central Road 2, Central Road 3, Central Road 4, Haitian Road and Mintian Road during the fair period will be towed, Shenzhen traffic police said at a news conference yesterday.

During the fair, Shenzhen police will designate the section of Central Road 5 between Fuhua Road and Fuhua No. 3 Road as a designated parking area for vehicles bearing certificates issued by Shenzhen police. Vehicles without certificates won’t be allowed to park in the designated area around the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center.

The organizers will provide free shuttle buses for exhibitors commuting along three routes between seven recommended hotels and the exhibition center. Visitors to the fair with tickets, passes and certificates can also enjoy free rides on public transport during the fair period.

The seven recommended hotels are Holy Sun Hotel, Agoda Hotel, Proud Way Hotel on Route 1, Yijia International Hotel and Vienna Fuhua Hotel on Route 2, and Calais Hotel and Asta Hotel on Route 3.
