Reception for floral exhibition and WFC summit

A grand reception was held under Canton Tower on the evening of September 19 to welcome guests of the Guangzhou International Floral Art Exhibition and the World Flower Council (WFC) Annual Summit.

A memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed between the Administration of Forestry and Gardening of Guangzhou Municipality and the WFC, in order to explore cooperation in floral arts and floral industry, foster exchanges in hosting floral art exhibitions and competitions, and make joint efforts in establishing Guangzhou’s image as a “millennium flower city.” The MOU is also expected to promote Guangzhou’s international profile and strengthen the city’s ties with floral arts associations worldwide.

A Canton Tower lighting ceremony was held at 8 p.m. at the new axis landmark of Guangzhou. Two slogans – “2017 Guangzhou International Floral Art Exhibition” and “Fragrance Embrace” - were scroll-played on Canton Tower in both Chinese and English, which added more glamour to the significant night views of Guangzhou along the Pearl River. Thousands of Guangzhou residents also joined the celebration and appreciated the views, while guests from all over the world were impressed with the hospitality and charm of the city.

Guangzhou has earned the name of “flower city." Its Spring Festival Flower Market, which has been operating for more than 200 years, creates a unique city scene, featuring countless flowers with impressive aromas. The International Floral Art Exhibition, an important activity of the World Cities Day, will introduce high-class floral arts from all over the world. At the same time, it is also a stage for Guangzhou to show off its floral history and floral culture to the outside world.
