Flower lovers, don’t miss the ‘floral Olympics’ in Guangzhou

The 2017 Guangzhou International Floral Art Exhibition as well as the Annual Summit of the World Flower Council (WFC) is ongoing in Guangzhou until Sept. 24. Hailed as the ‘floral Olympics’, the WFC Annual Summit is held in the Flower City—Guangzhou for the first time.

Floral activities are being held at three satellite venues, including Guangzhou Opera House, Yuexiu Park and Second Children’s Palace of Guangzhou. Thousands of beautiful flowers, bonsai and mosaicultures are on display in these venues for free.

Yuexiu Park, a comprehensive park in Guangzhou, opened in 1927 and is over 80 years old. It serves as a natural defense in the northern part of Guangzhou together with Bai Yun Mountain. With its highest peak standing more than 7000m above sea level, it is also called Yue (Guangdong) Xiu Mountain, Yue Wang Mountain and Guanyin Mountain in history. It’s the starting point and landmark of Guangzhou’s Traditional Central Axis and is of great importance to Guangzhou’s history and culture. Yuexiu Park consists of seven peaks with the main peak being the Yuejing Peak, and three artificial lakes—Beixiu Lake, Nanxiu Lake, and Dongxiu Lake.
