Zhuhai ensures superb VR experience at Expo 2017

Xiangzhou-based Zhuhai 4D Age Technology, the only nominated VR supplier at the China Pavilion for Expo 2017, underway in Astana, Kazakhstan is parading China's strength in technology.

One of the largest international expos of the decade, Expo 2017 is being held from June 10 to Sept 10, and is themed on future energy.

4D Age, a leading visual effects service provider, has provided virtual reality (VR) technology to create an online visiting experience for Chinese exhibitors. Such an innovation means that it meets both the demands of visitors to the event and those at home.

According to Zhang Fei, one of the founders of 4D Age, visiting the virtual China Pavilion only costs users little mobile traffic thanks to the use of encryption which is able to compress documents to just kilobytes in size.

Visitors so far have been impressed by the high-definition images and core technology developed to achieve nano-scale precision, Zhang added.

4D Age was founded at the end of 2013 by Cui Yan, who was previously a senior researcher at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence.

A domestic pioneer in 3D modeling and printing, it possesses world-leading independent research and development technologies and many international core patents such as Kinect-based fully automatic 3D digital human body rebuilding equipment.

An industry insider says the company has become the most influential innovation business in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and computer vision with the most rapid development.

"The soaring development seen in these recent years couldn't have been possible without government support," Cui said.

Cui explained that the Zhuhai government attaches great importance to attracting and retaining talents by issuing preferential policies for innovation and entrepreneurship. A large number of subsidies and large tax reductions can greatly ease the cost pressures in initial development stages.

4D Age is looking forward to a new round of innovation in the industry in Zhuhai with the implementation of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the construction of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.
