A tropical air depression, which was 1,590 kilometers away from Shenzhen in the southwest Pacific Ocean as of 8 a.m. yesterday, will be reinforced into a typhoon, the 13th of the year, and affect the southeast coast of China, Shenzhen Meteorological Observatory said yesterday.
The lingering hot weather of the past two weeks since a yellow heat alert was issued Aug. 11 might end with the arrival of the tropical storm, according to the observatory.
The observatory estimated that highs will drop slightly to 26-31 degrees Celsius on Wednesday thanks to light rain.
