Submarine, giant clam bracelet, grilled oyster, the shell of abalone or sea-ear, Squidward Tentacles, giant squid, snail, slug... All theses things seem to be unrelated, but there is a secret bond linking them together. Why do the Chinese Chinese characters about money all have the radical of bei (贝)? Shellfishes, master architect in the animal kingdom, can build strong and colorful shell houses, but why are they called mollusc? The Exhibition of Shellfish presents over 1000 shellfish specimens and cultural relics to answer all these questions.

The Titanic exhibition displays more than 300 cultural relics salvaged from the Atlantic Ocean, 2.5 miles (more than 4000 meters) deep. Viewing the exhibition reminds us of our common humanity. Objects as commonplace as a vase, a silk tie , and a postcard, are filled with a silent language, reminding us of life's fragility and the importance of loved ones. The proud prediction that the ship would never sink was destroyed by the merciless sea. The story of the Titanic reminds us that men cannot rely too much on science and technology. And, a once shimmering gold watch, its hands swept away by the frigid waters of the North Atlantic, warns that wealth does not insulate against tragedy.

Glimmer

I often depict female images in my works, which come with unrealistic scenes and lights and shadows. In my painting, as if those female images were moving away to far distance, and also as if they have always been living in the images I created. In this absolute vacuum and painterly space, everything is clear, and everything is unknown. I particularly want to express through my paintings the mysterious and ritualistic beauty of modern women, and wish that the women in my works are full of strength and courage against the intimidating force of fate, showing no weakness and fragility. -- Liu Chenyang
