New York Fashion Week to hit Guangzhou in October

World famous fashion designers will strut into the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou in October to unleash their latest works, according to a strategic cooperation agreement signed between China (Guangzhou) International Fashion Week and New York Fashion Week on July 26.

The agreement details that both parties will cooperate on projects to expand the fashion market in China.

Both fashion platforms have a lot in common, attaching great importance to commercial operations, market expansions and great designs, according to Li Jihai, chairman of China (Guangzhou) International Fashion Week Organizing Committee.

Li added that in October a platform covering an area of 3,000 square meters will be set up in Guangzhou's new central area for designers to release their fashion designs. A 9,000-square-meter exhibition hall will also be set up in the area.

"Fashion week culture has a long history and the cooperation agreement enables us to explore both the upstream supply chain and downstream fashion trade and retailing business of China's market," said Peter Ievy, vice chairman of New York Fashion Week Organizing Committee who has promote the founding of 32 fashion weeks across the world.

Based on the cooperation agreement, a special alliance will be set up in Guangzhou which connects the city with world famous fashion cities including Milan, New York and Paris. Moreover, renowned fashion designers and experts from across the world will gather in Guangzhou periodically for fashion-themed summits and talks about the latest industry trends.
