A launch event for the Annual Report on Cultural Development of Guangzhou in China 2017, or Blue Book of Guangzhou was held in Guangzhou on July 19.
The book was edited by Guangzhou University, Research Association of Blue Book of Guangzhou, Guangzhou municipal bureau of press, publication, radio, film and television and publicity department of CPC Guangzhou municipal committee.

Consisting of six main parts including an overall report, cultural industry, public cultural undertakings, and cultural heritages, the book is an important reference material for cultural operation, analysis and anticipation of cultural development.
During the launch event, five experts and scholars involved in the compilation of the book delivered speeches on research achievements in their respective fields.

According to the book, great accomplishments were made in Guangzhou's cultural development in 2016 – the city attaching great importance to cultural protection and inheritance, taking the initiative to promote local culture. The book also shed light upon problems requiring prompt solutions, such as poor cultural productivity and a low utilization ratio of existing public cultural resources.
The book also centers on scientific solutions for Guangzhou's cultural development. In 2017, Guangzhou will vitalize its cultural market by enhancing system reform, integrating the city's cultural resources and strengthen support to local cultural talents and products.
