A “Free Talk on Tianhe CBD” solicitation was launched in Guangzhou on the afternoon of July 11, soliciting the public’s ideas on Tianhe CBD’s micro modification. The solicitation starts now until August 13, and a total cash prize of RMB 190,000 will be given to the winners. Read on to find out how to win this grand prize.

1. Subject: Micro modification plans for four major areas in Tianhe CBD, including ① ground and underground space of central axis landscape (Huacheng Square); ② Liede Chong and its both banks; ③ Xingsheng Road and its nearby district; ④ Haixinsha Island and its nearby district.
The plans should be about one or more of the following five themes: ① culture recognition; ② multiple functions; ③ transportation improvement; ④ comfortable environment; ⑤ landscape arrangement.
For example: How to make more effective use of Haixinsha Island? How to improve the cycle track in Zhujiang New Town?

2. Requirements: Submitted work should be elaborate with viewpoint and mainly presented by written language, with unlimited length and word count. Extra illustration and video will be a bonus point. The following two aspects must be included in the work: a) status analysis and research; b) planning idea and countermeasure.
Note: For foreign participants, your submitted works can be written in either Chinese or English.
3. Applicants: All are welcome to contribute your ideas, Chinese or expats, professional or amateur, young or old. The following people are encouraged to participate, a) visitors, workers and residents in Tianhe CBD; b) teams of Chinese and foreign enterprises, public institutions, people’s organizations and consulates in Tianhe CBD; c) individual or teams of architecture, city planning and urban landscape professions.
4. Period: Now until August 13, 2017. An expert review will be held in the mid-to-late August.

5. Awards:
One First Prize Winner: RMB 80,000;
Two Second Prize Winners: RMB 20,000 per person;
Three Third Prize Winners: RMB 10,000 per person;
A number of single awards, Best Creative Award, Best Organization Award, Active Participation Award, etc. Cash prize ranges from RMB 2,000 to RMB 10,000.

About Tianhe CBD
As one of the three national-level CBDs in China, Tianhe CBD is the financial center and headquarters center of Guangzhou, with Zhujiang New Town as its representative area.
Covering 2 million square meters of business area, Tianhe CBD accounts for 1/3 of the whole city’s business areas. With only 2‰ of Guangzhou’s land area, it achieves over 1/8 of the city’s GDP.

About Comprehensive action plans for envisioning a better Guangzhou Tianhe CBD
The development and influence of Tianhe CBD are continuously increasing, but it still has a lot to be improved when compared with world class CBD such as City of London or Manhattan of New York City.
In order to build a better CBD with more beautiful landscape, more convenient transportation, more complete administration and more vigorous district, an overall upgrade is imperative, according to Huang Deshu, Deputy Managing Director of Guangzhou Tianhe Central Business District Administrative Committee (hereinafter referred to as Tianhe CBD Administrative Committee).
In April, Tianhe District of Guangzhou called a bid on the internet which aimed to collect a superior plan from the worldwide to upgrade Tianhe CBD, especially Zhujiang New Town. AECOM and Guangzhou Urban Planning & Design Survey Research Institute jointly won the bit, which was announced in May.
The public participation activities of Comprehensive action plans for envisioning a better Guangzhou Tianhe CBD are hosted by Tianhe CBD Administrative Committee, and organized by AECOM, Guangzhou Urban Planning & Design Survey Research Institute and Southern Metropolis Daily.
The activities include “Free Talk on Tianhe CBD” solicitation activity, “experience the cycle track in Tianhe CBD”, etc. It aims to invite the public to take part in the Plan and contribute to Tianhe CBD’s micro modification, which in return will benefit the public who visit, live in or work in Tianhe CBD.
19万元征集天河CBD“微改造”金点子
7月11日下午，“天河CBD整体提升计划”公众参与系列活动暨“CBD自由讲”有奖征集活动新闻发布会在珠江汇报大厅举行。会上正式启动“天河CBD整体提升计划”公众参与系列活动，并拉开“CBD自由讲”有奖征集活动的序幕。即日起至8月13日，天河中央商务区管理委员会向公众有奖征集天河CBD“微改造”的金点子，奖金总额高达19万元，金奖一个高达8万元。
1. 征集内容：此次有奖征集活动重点面向天河中央商务区4个主要区域：中轴景观线（花城广场）地面及地下空间、猎德涌及沿岸片区、兴盛路及就近片区、海心沙及就近片区。
公众可就文化识别度、功能丰富度、交通应对性、环境舒适度以及景观层次感等5大方面出谋划策。比如“海心沙如何有效活化利用？”“如何改善珠江新城的自行车慢行系统？”
2. 征集要求：参赛作品以文字为主，篇幅不限，字数不限，内容尽量详尽，阐明观点。配合文字提供图片、视频等辅助说明的可酿情加分。内容须包括：一、现状分析与研究；二、策划思路与对策。
注：外国读者可以用中文或者英文提交参赛作品。
3. 征集对象：“CBD自由讲”是面向全社会的有奖征集活动，不设门槛，不限专业、学历、年龄、国籍参与。以CBD区域内的访客、居民，在该区域上班的白领、企业主、商旅人士等为主要征集对象，鼓励建筑、规划、景观等专业人士个人或组队参加，鼓励CBD区域内的企事业单位、人民团体、组织机构、使领馆等团体参加。
4. 征集时间：2017年7月11日至8月13日；8月中下旬进行专家评审。
5. 奖项设置：一等奖1名（奖金共计8万元），二等奖2名（奖金共计4万元），三等奖3名（奖金共计3万元）。
此外还设立若干单项奖，比如最佳创意奖、最佳组织奖、积极参与奖等，奖金从2000元至万元不等。
注：以上奖金金额均为税前金额，奖金税费由获奖者承担。
