Exhibition unveils to display beautiful Guangdong and Limburg

Shen Haixiong, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee of Guangdong and Provincial Publicity Chief, delivered a speech at Chamber of Commerce of Limburg, Belgium.

As an important event of "Experience China - Guangdong Culture Tour to Europe", an exhibition showcasing books, photos and innovative products from both Guangdong and Limburg, named "Building Bridges", was opened on July 8 in Hasselt, capital city of Limburg, Belgium.

Herman Reynders (L), Governor of Limburg, introduced local wines to Shen Haixiong (M), Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee of Guangdong and Provincial Publicity Chief.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Shen Haixiong, Guangdong provincial publicity chief, said, "On its road to national revival, China contributes to the world high-speed rail, e-commerce, Alipay and bicycle sharing, which are named "New Four Great Inventions" by foreign friends. These innovations have changed the sphere of activities, habits and customs and production modes of the Chinese people including the Guangdong people, and have also brought us closer to the world and the world’s leading innovation edge."

He said that he hopes Limburg and Guangdong will work together to transfer the Silk Road Consensus into cooperation in policy making, infrastructure, finance and trade as well as closer people- to-people connection.

As eyewitness of the establishment of sister province relationship between Limburg and Guangdong two years ago, Qu Xing, ambassador of China to Belgium, said, the ties between China and Belgium are in their best time in history, adding that he hopes the two provinces and the two countries could have more cooperation projects under the “Belt and Road Initiative”.

Eric Gerits, vice governor of Limburg responsible for economic affairs, said that the two provinces have built a bridge of friendship in the past two years. The exhibition and the agreements to be signed will consolidate the cooperation and offer chances to people from both sides to visit each other, to see the outside world and to further the bilateral cultural exchange and economic development.

Belgian guests were impressed the exhibition held by Information Office of Guangdong and Guangdong Provincial Publishing Group.

During the event, nearly one hundred books including Xi Jinping: The Governance of China and about 40 photos on friendship between Guangdong and Limburg were on display. Agreements were signed between companies in the two places to boost cooperation in the fields of bio-medicine, innovative technology and publication.

Prior to the event, the Guangdong delegation held promotional events in Russia, Germany and Belgium from July 2-11.

This event was supported by Limburg government, especially by the Publicity Department of Limburg government, the official business platform of Locate in Limburg and VOKA, a network for business and commerce in Vlaams Gewest of Belgium. It has became a showcase for a closer sister relationship between the two provinces.

The “Experience China - Guangdong Culture Tour to Europe” consists of three events: a book and photo exhibition showcasing Guangdong’s achievements in economy, society and culture development since the reform and opening-up; the Belt and Road China-EU Forum on Regional Promotion selectively demonstrating representative achievements made by Guangdong’s enterprises in innovation-driven development; “Xu Hongfei’s Chubby Girls Sculpture Exhibition” and “Maritime Silk Road Oil Painting Exhibition”, enabling the international community to know more about the development of Guangdong’s art and culture.
