Guangdong volunteers start one-week cultural exchange in Tibet

On the morning of June 13, over 50 volunteers from Guangdong start their one-week cultural exchange at the Mass Art Center of Nyingchi Prefecture in Tibet. In this week, they will provide a cultural feast for local people, including performances, exhibitions, lectures and social gatherings.

On the first day of the week, a large number of citizens and art lovers are attracted to the Mass Art Center. There, performances of strong Lingnan characteristics are presented to the audiences, including vocal music, instrumental music, dance, folk art, and acrobatics.

100 photos of Guangdong’s unique folk customs and cultural life are exhibited. Representative projects of Guangdong intangible cultural heritage are displayed by inheritors, such as Guangdong paper cutting, Xinhui palm-leaf fan, and Chaozhou drawnwork.

Cui Zhen, composer and deputy curator of Dongguan Culture Center, gives a lecture on how to compose a song by using folk music. Wang Lie, actor and full-time vice chairman of Guangdong Provincial Dancers Association, delivers a speech on the construction and sampling of dance creation. Art lovers, key employees of folk art institutions, literary and art workers from Nyingchi attend the lectures and have face-to-face exchanges with the lecturers.

The exchange is jointly hosted by the Department of Culture of Guangdong Province, Department of Culture of Tibet Autonomous Region, and Guangdong’s 8th Batch of Aiding Tibet Team.
