Belt and Road Initiative brings opportunities to Guangdong and Limburg

Since Chinese President Xi Jinping put forward Belt and Road Initiative in 2013, more than 100 countries (regions) and international organizations have taken part in this initiative.

On the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation which held from May 14 to 15, Chinese President Xi Jinping pointed out that all countries can be international cooperation partners of the B&R Initiative.

As the sister province of Guangdong, Limburg province, Belgium expects more cooperation with Guangdong under the Belt and Road Initiative. On May 17, the Limburg of Belgium Investment Promotion was held by the Guangdong Institute of Enterprise Development and "Located in Limburg" in Guangzhou.

“I am very positive about the Belt and Road Initiative,” said Frank Zwerts, Director of the “Locate in Limburg”. “I believe that the Belt and Road Initiative is beneficial for China and Europe, no matter inbound or outbound.”

With the progress of the Belt and Road Initiative, goods can be transported between Dongguan, Guangdong Province and Genk, Limburg Province through China Railway Express in 15 or 16 days.

Dr. Li Wei, Executive Vice Director of Guangdong Institute of Enterprise Development in Guangzhou, indicated that the Road Belt and Road Initiative is a kind of platform to tighten connectivity between Guangdong and the countries along Belt and Road Initiative.

“Guangdong is the staring point of the Maritime Silk Road,” said Dr. Li. “Companies can go overseas from Guangdong, while the advanced technology and projects can come in through the Belt and Road Initiative, which is also useful for the transformation and upgirding in Guangdong.”
