Some 746 enterprises from Macao had established themselves in the Hengqin New Area by the end of February, a 132 percent increase compared to the end of 2015, the Zhujiang Evening News reported.
Hengqin has persisted in the principal of opening up to the world and giving priority to Hong Kong and Macao, and has strengthened its cooperation with the latter by setting up the Guangdong-Macao Cooperation Industrial Park, Guangdong-Macao Chinese Medicine Technology Industrial Park and Hengqin Entrepreneurship Valley for Macau Youth. These will help the diversified development of Macao.
Currently, the Macao SAR Government has recommended 83 projects to enter the Guangdong-Macao Cooperation Industrial Park, with total investment of over 200 billion yuan (about US$29 billion).
The Guangdong-Macao Chinese Medicine Technology Industrial Park is the first landing project under the Framework Agreement of Cooperation Between Guangdong and Macao. The GMP Pilot Plant, Testing and Certification Building and Research Building in the park are expected to be operating in the second half of 2017.
The park has been in contact with 252 enterprises, 86 from Macao, and reached cooperative intention plans with 56 applicants.
Hengqin Entrepreneurship Valley for Macau Youth, which opened in June, 2015, is dedicated to the communication and cooperation between youth from Macao and the Chinese mainland, and helping them starting their own businesses.
A total of 175 teams have so far settled down in the valley, nearly 80 percent being from Hong Kong and Macao. And 61 teams have "graduated", while 114 are still in incubation. These teams are involved in such fields as electric information, bio-medicine, modern agriculture and environmental protection.
