Guangdong police's arrested 1800 illegal immigrants since Jan. 1

In collaboration with Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR and Guangxi, Yunnan and Fujian Province, Guangdong police has apprehended a total of 1,800 illegal immigrants, involving 70 cases since January 1, 2017.

According to Guangdong police, some illegal immigrants stole into Hong Kong via overland and sea routes, transiting through Chinese mainland. And some stole into Guangdong directly and worked here illegally. Most illegal immigrants come from Southeast Asia.

On February 19, Guangdong police seized 80 Southeast-Asian illegal immigrants (37 heading for Guangdong Province and 43 for Guangxi Province), 8 suspects involving organizing illegal immigration (5 for Guangdong Province and 3 for Guangxi Province), 2 suspects involving hiring illegal immigrants.

Besides, 200 illegal immigration workers have been detained in Maoming City, Guangdong Province.

To further improve public security, a series of actions will be taken by Guangdong police to crack down on illegal immigration.
