Guangdong Hong Kong and Macao jointly fight against cross-border crime

Authorities of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao jointly launched “Thunder 17” operation to combat cross-border crime recently.

The operation cracked down more than 130 criminal cases, while over 790 suspects were arrested, with 7 Hong Kong residents and 3 Macao residents, according to Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department.

It is introduced that the joint-operation, code-name “Thunder” is an annual operation which mainly fight against different kinds of cross-border crime, such as telecommunication fraud, money laundering, human trafficking and illegal immigration.

According to Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department, the joint-operation has been launched since 2000.

Spokesman of Guangdong police indicated that authorities of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao will continue the joint-operation in the future, in order to ensure the social security.
