China's largest business airport to start trial run in Guangzhou this September

Guangzhou Baiyun Airport Fixed Base Operator (FBO), which is the largest FBO project in China, will be on trial run in September, according to Southern Metropolitan Daily.

The business airport will share runways with Baiyun International Airport, expecting world's most well-known business figures in late November during the city-held 2017 Fortune Global Forum.

A fixed-base operator (FBO) is an organization granted the right by an airport to operate at the airport and provide aeronautical services such as fueling, hangaring, tie-down and parking, aircraft rental, aircraft maintenance, flight instruction and similar services.

The construction of the FBO combines of 3 phrases, covering around 164 acres. The first phrase costs 465 million RMB (67.6 million USD), obtaining 42 business aircraft stands.

"Based on the design, the FBO possesses a more convenient process on clearance than other cities in China." Xiao Qiming, the CEO of Guangdong YT Business Aviation Service Co., LTD, estimated the new terminal shortened traveler clearance time to about 5 minutes.

Guangzhou sets to become international aviation hub in its government's 13th Five Year Plan. The construction of the FBO is believed to be one of the moves to achieve the goal.

Xiao said the 3-phrases construction plan is a solid plan. He expected to explore the market from Guangzhou to the whole Pearl River Delta. "Currently, we have invited 4 business aviation companies to set up their bases in Guangzhou already. There are a lot more we are contacting. We expect those companies come to Guangzhou to run business flights", Xiao said.
