Dozens of Chinese companies use 'Ivanka' in corporate names

Thirty-six domestic companies have registered under names that include the word Ivanka, the first name of U.S. President Donald Trump's daughter, since Trump was elected in November 2016.

A total of 40 companies in China have registered names with the Chinese characters used to write "Ivanka," such as Henan Ivanka E-commerce Co and Yancheng Ivanka Cosmetics Co, though four had registered before the U.S. election in November, according to public information from the National Enterprise Credit Information Publicity System.

Companies with Ivanka in their names operate in a variety of industries such as cosmetics and undergarments.

Many Chinese companies have borrowed the names of world leaders for their own names over the past decade, the Financial Times reported on Friday.

More than 100 Chinese companies have adopted the commonly used Chinese characters for "Trump."

Most of those companies were established after he was elected president.
