As part of the Happy Chinese New Year Celebration, the 2017 Guangzhou Culture Week is being held in the UK from Jan. 26 to Feb. 10, 2017. Unique Lingnan culture Guangdong Puppet Show and Cantonese Music present a vivid and dramatic cultural feast for UK friends.
On the afternoon of Jan. 28, the Lunar New Year’s day, the first show of the culture week was held at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, London. On the evening of the same day, a Cantonese Opera concert in honor of the aged was held at the National Gallery in the City of Westminster in Central London.

Artists from Guangzhou presented puppet knowledge lectures, classic puppet shows, Cantonese Opera and Cantonese Music performances. The audience burst into thunderous applause for both shows.
After watching the show at the museum, Kevin Fewster, Director of Royal Museums Greenwich, said that he went to Guangdong several times and liked Lingnan culture very much.
Minister Counselor Xiang Xiaowei of the Cultural Section of the Chinese Embassy pointed out such cultural exchange activities should be held frequently to enable more British youth to know more about Chinese culture.
