Nottingham University has had a campus in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province since 2004, although it did not officially open until 2006.
Since then the facility, which is a joint venture with China's Wanli Education Group, has gone from strength to strength. Initially welcoming hundreds of students, it now has over 6,000 enrolled on a diverse range of courses.
In 2011, a science and engineering building was opened on the site, joined in 2016 by a new arts centre.
The award is in recognition of outstanding cooperation between the British and Chinese partners of the University.
Late in 2016, sino.uk reported on growing efforts between educational establishments in China and the UK to work together and to pool resources.
At the time, an agreement had been made between the Russell Group, which is an association of British universities including Cambridge and Oxford, and Group-China 9, who represent prestigious establishments including Nanjing, Peking and Shanghai Jiao Tong universities.
It called for the strengthening of current ties, as well as sharing ideas, information and learning between the groups.
