Export volume of local smartphone brands went up in 2016
These local brands are expanding their overseas market shares, especially in the countries along the Belt and Road Initiative. Guangdong exported 4 million mobile phones to Indonesia, 2.6 million to Philipine and 2 million to Bazil in the first half of 2016, which respectively increased 65.5%, 110% and 490%.
The export volume of Guangdong mobile phone brands reached 240 million and increased 27.1% comparing the same period in 2015, which indicates the local brands are enhancing their brand competitiveness in the global market.
“Our mobile phones are getting rid of the brand images as cheap and low-end,” said Liu Duo, vice president of China Academy of Information and Communication Technology, “this should be attributed to the companies’ efforts to strengthen their product designs, manufacturing technologies and marketing strategies.”
