A sample check was conducted on 8220 batches of food in 32 categories by Guangzhou Food and Drug Administration in the fourth quarter of 2016.
The report shows 8102 batches were qualified, accounting for 98.6% of the total sample.
The 118 batches failing to pass the security check were required to remove off the shelves, seal up and recall. Their producers will be investigated and treated according to law.
Guangzhou Food and Drug Administration said consumers could avoid the unqualified food through following the updates on the food security check online.
