Lady Xian, originated from Maoming, a city located in west Guangdong, is the first heroine of China with enormous influences in many countries alongside "Belt and Road" Initiative.
Maoming has determined to brand Lady Xian Culture worldwide and make it resonate internationally, according to Xu Guang, General Secretary of CPC Maoming Municipal Committee and Chairman of Maoming Municipal People's Congress.
Xu mentioned the move when attending the 5th session of 11th Guangdong Provincial People's Congress.
Xu indicated that Maoming was attempting to boost its "soft power" of tourism and culture via branding Lady Xian Culture worldwide, since Maoming is a coastal city with rich oceanic tourism resources, and also owns a branch of historical sites on ancient Maritime Silk Road and Lady Xian.
Xu insisted that as one kind of local and traditional culture and different from Cantonese Culture and Hakka Culture, Lady Xian as one part of Baiyue Culture which has existed since the Warring States Period (BC 475-BC 221), has not been so well-known to the world.
As Guangdong is actively participating in 21st Century Maritime Silk Road construction, more events will be held to promote Lady Xian Culture so that it can connect with people from countries that are greatly influenced by Lady Xian Culture.
Cooperating with Nanfang Media Group, Maoming has initiated several campaigns to broadcast the brand of Lady Xian globally. For instance, Maoming and Newsgd.com held a global solicitation for English translation of "唯用一好心", which is the core spirit of Lady Xian. Also Maoming and Nanfang Daily organized an international forum on Lady Xian Culture.
Besides, Xu also stated that Maoming will make full use of "Belt and Road" Initiative and the spreading of Lady Xian Culture to upgrade Maoming Port as a deepwater port with high quality. 2.6 billion Yuan invested and joint efforts with Guangzhou Port, Maoming Port is tailored to be one with the handling capacity of about 150 million tons. On January 13th, the main construction of the deepwater port was finished.
