The city will prioritize the development of new-energy vehicles, intelligent manufacturing equipment and integration, energy-saving and environmental protection apparatus, general aviation, yachting, shipbuilding and marine engineering equipment, rail transit equipment, and robotics in the next few years.

Zhuhai is to evolve into a pilot area for the national "Made in China 2025" strategy, a model city for collaborative innovation and intelligent manufacturing, as well as a talent pool for the high-end manufacturing sector.

The plan also forecasts a critical period for the course of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) when Zhuhai's equipment manufacturing industry will witness major quality and efficiency upgrades based upon previous scale expansions.

In 2025, annual output value is predicted to reach 600 billion yuan ($86.8 billion). Zhuhai will be China's intelligent manufacturing equipment industrial base and the gathering place of the world’s advanced equipment manufacturing "hidden champions." This refers to enterprises with dominance in subsectors, explained an official with the Science, Industry & Information Technology Bureau -- composer of the plan.

Zhuhai has the capability to achieve these goals and will work from the aspects of innovation upgrade, intelligent manufacture, brand cultivation, talent training, and ecological system building to meet the goals, said the official.
