In Boston, youth can take a million dollars directly from city's budget and decide where to spend it, so called the "participatory budgeting", a case brought by one of the five winning cities of the 3rd Guangzhou International Award for Urban Innovation (Guangzhou Award) announced on Dec. 7.
The other four urban innovative initiatives by Songpa-gu (in Seoul) of South Korea, Khosoos and Khanka cities of Egypt, La Paz of Bolivia and Denmark's Copenhagen also won this year's Guangzhou Award.
La Paz becomes the big winner for the double titles by winning also the "Online Popular City" voted by global online users for its citizen culture project.

Themed "Global Wisdom for Local Solutions" this year, the Guangzhou Award aims at inspiring urban innovation by improving the social, economic and environmental sustainability at the municipal level by sharing experiences and best practices among cities, regions and countries.

All representatives from winning cities said it was a great honor and happy to receive the Guangzhou Award at the ceremony. Indeed, mutual development and shared prosperity might come from their innovative minds.
