On December 7, Forum on the Belt and Road Initiative & International Urban Innovation sponsored by Guangdong University of Foreign Studies(GDUFS)，Guangzhou International Urban Innovation Communication Study Center and Guangzhou International Urban Innovation Association was held in No.1 Lecture Hall of Guangzhou Library.
Distinguished guests include Bernadia Tjanderadewi（Secretary General of United Cities and Local Governments Asia Pacific），Professor Zhong Weihe （President of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies）; LIU Hailing （Editor-in-chief of YANGCGENG EVENING NEWS GROUP), Ye Professor Shuxian (Director of Institute of Literature of Chinese Academy of Social Science), Professor Luo Xuanmin (Yunshan Leading Scholar of GDUFS, Director of Center for Translation and Interdisciplinary Studies, Tsinghua University), Xiong Tao (Member of Yiwu Municipal CPC standing committee, and Deputy Mayor of Yiwu), Professor YU Xiande (Researcher of GDUFS-YCWB Academy of Omnimedia and International Communication), Vedala Srinivas Chary (Director of Centre for Energy, Environment, Urban Governance and Infrastructure Development, Administrative Staff College of India). Directors of the relevant departments, teachers and students of GDUFS, and reporters from Guangzhou mainstream media, also attended the Forum.
The Belt and Road Initiative is to build a blueprint for the development of the new era on the basis of respecting the cultural diversity of China and neighboring countries. It also provides new requirements and opportunities for the internationalization of local cities and their innovative development. Professor Yang Kui, Dean of Journalism and Communication school, presided over the keynote speech with the concept of "Innovation Driving Development and Wisdom Shaping Future ".
Speakers' topics include the mystery of the Silk Road—from the literary anthropology of the local perspective, innovation of the Guangzhou city image communication to the outside, translation and the construction of national collective cultural memory speech. In the session of summit dialogues, distinguished guests provided in-depth insights into the challenges and opportunities, problems and countermeasures, feasible paths and successful experiences for city innovation and development from the perspectives of city governance, urban innovation and communication, city aesthetics, cross-cultural development and exchange, so as to provide new ideas and concepts for the sustainable development of international city innovation, with the convergence of the global vision and the local wisdom, and the integration of international experiences and the local reality.
The summit forum is part of the Guangzhou International Urban Innovation Festival.
